VVT Solenoid 12655420 12655421 2-Pack for chevy equinox malibu
Sale price
$22.99
Regular price $23.22
- PAIR — 1 intake solenoid (gray plug, GM 12655420 family) + 1 exhaust solenoid (black plug, GM 12655421 family). They look similar but are NOT interchangeable. Install by plug color and the stamped part number, never by guessing from position. If you only need one side, this 2-pack is the wrong SKU — order a single solenoid instead.
- FITMENT — For GM Ecotec 2.0L / 2.2L / 2.4L 4-cylinder engines with VVT only. Covers select Chevy Cobalt, HHR, Malibu, Equinox; GMC Terrain; Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Verano; plus listed Pontiac, Saturn, and Saab Ecotec applications. EXCLUDES 2.5L and all V8 trucks/SUVs (Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Yukon, etc.). Some same-model years rolled to updated 12679099 / 12679100 — verify by VIN + old part number before ordering.
- REPLACES — OEM reference: intake 12655420 (supersedes 12628347 / 12646783 / 12578517, updated to 12679099); exhaust 12655421 (supersedes 12628348 / 12646784 / 12578518, updated to 12679100). Aftermarket reference only: 917-215 / 2T1014 (intake), 917-216 / 2T1015 (exhaust) — listed separately, not Genuine GM. FREPURDO is an independent aftermarket brand; all numbers are for matching the original solenoid.
- FUNCTION — The ECM uses these oil control valves to route pressurized oil and adjust cam timing. Replace if you see P0010 / P0011 (intake side) or P0013 / P0014 (exhaust side), rough cold idle, hesitation, or cam-timing-related driveability issues. This restores proper VVT operation when the solenoid is the confirmed fault — wiring, oil condition, and the cam phaser should also be ruled out.
- INSTALL — Cold engine, disconnect the negative battery. Remove the old solenoid, photograph the plug color + stamped number, clean the valve-cover bore, seat the new O-ring with a thin film of clean engine oil (no sealant), and tighten the 10mm retaining bolt to spec — do not over-torque. Reconnect, clear codes, and check idle. Where the model-specific service info calls for it, replace intake + exhaust together; professional install is recommended if you are not familiar with VVT service.
